Slider replacement dilemna

I have a "u" shaped home with four sliders surrounding the inner part of the u. They open to my lanai and pool area in my Florida home. The sliders are single pane and have little UV protection as was typical when the house was built 24 years ago. Two of the sliders are opposite each other and of the same size. One is in the bedroom and is never used. The other is used at least 10-15 times a day as it is in the dinette area. I would like to replace those two doors and there is not any future intent to replace the others. They are much larger and never used. Very costly proposition. So, I am thinking of replacing the two that are opposite each other with new Pella sliders. The question is will it look strange since the new ones will have a larger frame around the glass as they are now double paned? I had considered French doors but nixed it. I thought they compromised my view. Any thoughts?
The first two pictures below are the sliders that I am considering replacing.

i think you'll be fine. in a stripped down condition, with no furniture or decor on the lanai, it will show. but once you have other things to look at it wont matter so much....but...

do keep in mind it wont just be trim that will be different, the color of the glass could look different as well. if it was the front of the house i wouldnt like it, for this back U i think its acceptable.

i think french doors and sliders would look worse, so no win in that direction anyway.

have you spoken with your insurance company? they may require hurricane resilient doors for replacements. here in RI i had a choice of 'hurricane rated, or pre cut and sized plywood on site' for both a replacement and new windows. i just dont want you to be caught in an unpleasant way if you were to need to make a claim in the future.

Actually it is the 2nd and 4th pictures that are the doors that match and are opposite.

The original sliders are tinted. The new ones have the gas between the panes and will have a tint as well. Does anyone know whether they will be similar in color of their respective glass? OMG this is getting crazy and I may be obsessing. The reason for replacement is 1. The kitchen sliders track is shot 2. The sun is such that it is bleaching my kitchen hardwood floors and hence I have to use my drape way too much.

I have exterior shade screens on my sliders to prevent fading/heat gain. Much cheaper than a replacement door but not sure you would want to do that on only 2 of 4 doors. Does the existing tint not block sun fading/heat?

I think you're fine replacing just the two. I had new tracks and rollers put on my slider for $340 for the whole door. Now we have to be careful not to pull the door too hard because they slide closed so easily. You may be able to add another layer of tint to the windows as well.

I could get new track. The new doors are so much more substantial and have better locking systems. They are actually attractive.

That's very true. You'll definitely notice a savings in your A/C bill as well. I don't think you'll see enough of a difference in tint color or frame size to worry about it.

Yes, we are aware of what the codes are for Florida
If you replace 25 percent or less of your windows, you don't have to worry. I, however, want the better sliders but want opinions on whether they will look weird with the wider framing. Have only one opinion so far. Looking for some opinions folks. I could just fix the slider.......

Hard to say without seeing the new sliders, but I still think new ones are your best option (based on what you've told us).

New sliders definitely, but rethink Pella...........

Why rethink Pella? They have a great reputation. We also considered Jeldwyn

My sister replaced a patio door in Miami, and it required a permit. I don't know if her situation had any special considerations. It sounds like you've been doing your homework, but I share this with you in case you need to check with your contractor about pulling a permit.

To answer your question, I think it will look fine as you'll still have symmetry. And as another comment mentioned, your furnishings will dominate the space, and that's where eyes will go. Good luck!

Yeah, I have had similar situations where I changed something and thought my eye would constantly go to the "change" and it quickly became a part of the background. Interesting, that no one suggested reconsidering putting in French doors which I for years said I would do with that pair.
New photo shows what the new framework will look like. This is from the store

These should look fine. I suspect nobody suggested French doors because you said you had nixed that idea.

"Why rethink Pella? They have a great reputation. We also considered Jeldwyn"

Not amongst pro's. And Jeldwen is right next to them at the bottom of the barrel.

    So what would you recommend?

Do you need impact rated? Who will install?

No, we don't need impact rated as we are replacing less than 25 percent of windows. Presently, it would be Home Depot that would install.

Marvin Integrity, Andersen 400 series, Sunrise or Okna.

    Sherry W:

Whether or not you need an impact rated door or window depends on your specific location in Florida, not the amount of windows you're replacing.

Paella has a 'contemporary' model. The stiles are much thinner. Do not know the quality. I came across it earlier today when searching for fully opening of both panels of sliders like I had years ago.

    Thanks for the information.
