I believe that's bermuda grass. I've been lucky enough to not have that, or any grass problems but I would try roundup on it.

So if I use Roundup it should kill the roots? Will roundup 'control' the grass or destroy and send it straight to the underworld?

I would prefer the underworld route!

You would need to keep repeating the RoundUp, every time you see a sprout. I have had good luck with soil solarization in getting rid of bermuda. Takes some time but it does work. Google or search this forum, you should find plenty of info. Here is one quick link, there's lots more out there as well as here on Houzz.

We found that by adding 1 cup of ammonia to the round up in a 1gl sprayer it really does the job. It changes the ph of the water used(hard water) there by letting ALL the chemicals in round up work to there full potential. Google... round up adding ammonia

In my experience Spectracide works on Bermuda grass a lot better than roundup.
