Nice desk, love the carved handles

Very nice. There is probably a mechanism that locks the drawers when the top goes down--maybe you triggered that somehow. If you can find a friendly antique shop, you may be able to borrow keys until you find one that fits.

Maybe the roll top is supposed to link with the locking mechanism, i.e., when the top is down, it locks the drawers. If this is the case, the re-installation of the roll top may be messed up.

I was thinking that maybe the desk top is not placed exactly right on the pedestals. I know it had to be adjusted for the roll top to roll all the way up. It finally was looking perfect and the center drawer fits right, but, maybe something is still off. ????

Pull the wide middle drawer open ( the one between the left and right stacks ). You should then be able to open the side drawers. If you notice, the middle one is the only drawer with a lock. This way, when you close and lock the big middle drawer, it also locks both side drawer stacks. If this doesn't work, then something jammed when the top was put on. Remove the top, check for a mechanism that may be bent etc.. I would not think that the middle drawer would have to be open in order to open the side drawers, but it would have to be unlocked.

I am thinking, too, that it has something to do with the way the top is setting on them. It is extremely heavy, but, I'm going to see if I can get my son to lift one of the sides and while he's lifting, I'll see if I can open one of the doors. I already have tried it by removing the middle drawer that you speak of, but, that didn't work.
