Can someone ID these shrubs?

Can anyone ID these shrubs that are growing around the base of my cherry blossom trees? I'm thinking about getting more of them to put around the backyard.
Also, how do I care for them? They're on the sidewalk and I've never watered them once in about 4 years...yet they look fine. Thanks for the help!
