Dining room lighting

We are about to hang a chandelier over our new dining room table. The ceiling has 4 recessed lights plus a capped off electrical connection in the center of the space where we will hang the new fixture. Problem is we need to offset the table to accommodate the buffet on the west side of the space and leave enough room for people to get easily in and out of their chairs. The only way to facilitate this is to offset the table to the east approx. 12 - 18". The chandelier, has a large oval plate, so it can be "cheated" and positioned over the table as needed. The problem is the new light would not be centered to the 4 floodlights, east - west. North to south is not a problem. Is this too weird? The ceiling and the recessed lights are white so don't call much attention to themselves unless someone looks up and would see the plate is not centered.
