Indomom- I really like that lantern too. I don't think it would look out of place if I went with a cream colored stone countertop. Saying that...I do like the idea of mixing finishes as it goes with my eclectic style...not too matchy matchy;)
I'm playing around with different things...I tried my peace lily in the white pot...looks good! I had a small cement tea light holder. I like the cement look too! I would love to frame this drawing of the chickadee and put it somewhere...not necessarily in here as it wouldn't go with my leopard that I'm getting printed and framed. Here I go again...thinking out loud!!lol:)

Oh my gosh...look at the shape of the air plant planters you just posted...same as my tea light holder, which I could probably use as an air plant holder too!
What about a gold framed geometric shaped candle holder???

I love the chickadee! I'm not a fan of the gold frame, but the peace lily is pretty and looks nice in the white pot. You're very close to the finish line, I think!

p.s. I think the chickadee and the leopard could co-exist. :)

I'd do a black frame and the rest of the shelf just like you have it now. Nice interest and shapes!

I was thinking I would find a black or brushed silver wire basket to put on top of toilet or the top shelf, to hold toilet paper. What else could you add to the top shelf? What about a fake orchid( that looks real) in a concrete pot to sit on counter?

Cher, you did a really nice job on the bathroom. since your hub is so handy, do you think he could cut a remnant piece of granite or marble to top your vanity? you can find them for next to nothing on craigslist or go by a stone yard and find one of their throw-away pieces.

another option is doing a cement overlay. it's pretty simple. Basically a skim coat with Ardex (and you can add color or recycled glass to it)

Beth H- I love the look of that cement countertop! It would give the bathroom the industrial/ rustic look we like! A cement overlay would look very cool & add the visual impact we're looking for:). Thanks for sending me the link...I will certainly show hubby & we'll research it some more!

I did notice my faucet is sticking out like a sore thumb. I think a black faucet would look better when we change our counter/vanity.

That concrete counter could be a great look, Cher! It's not quite as complicated as I thought. Especially with you and Handy Hubs.

I like the idea of the wire (or wicker) basket on top of the toilet for TP. I think a lantern would be lovely on the top shelf. It might need a little something extra up there, too--just not sure.

I do remember that vase and I think it's not the right vibe for the powder room. The livelier colors look great in the other room.

Okay...moved back!;) I think I agree...it's not the right vibe! I seem to think keeping it with texture and not too much colour, gives the room it's own unique look. Maybe just a colourful towel for a punch of colour. I have colour everywhere else in the house...it's nice to have a neutral room:).

I'm off to the store to look for a black frame for my chickadee.

Also...off topic...should I keep my light fixtures the same in this area? What do you think of these fixtures for the entrance and livingroom, which is adjacent to the bathroom?

there are others over in the right hand margin as well. I think it would really go well w/your decor. consider adding a bit of black cement powder coloring to the mix to give it a deeper gray tone.

doing a matte black faucet and some new black cabinet hardware would top things off for you!

I totally agree about having a neutral room and that being unique in itself. You have wonderful art and texture and contrast.

I just need to figure out the top shelf & something to sit on the counter. I think if the counter will eventually be concrete...indomom-that first lantern you showed me might look good sitting on the counter if it's substantial enough!

Yes! 2nd shelf is perfect and you can change it up by using an air plant if you want a teeny bit of color. I covet the chickadee! Do you have any simple pottery pieces hanging out at your house?

In a nod toward the users of the powder room, I would have the leopard print hung at eye level to a seated adult. And don't be surprised to hear chuckles from people as they exit the room. You should have a solid core door so you don't hear chuckles or any other noises when the door is closed.

What do you think of this for the TP holder? I stole it from my DR, but I don't mind finding something else to but on my buffet instead:)

I found this big textured cement planter for the bathroom(with a faux plant;)). I love the texture and shape of it! I think this room is completed until we decide finalize what to do as a countertop!:). Unless you think I should do something on the blank wall?

Another question...if I make a cement countertop...should I keep the existing sink to sit on top or buy a rectangle shaped sink? Did we decide whether or not the vanity should stay natural maple( I don't mind it) or change colour? What style of black knobs would you go with? Simple round ones like the ones I have now? I'm loving my new bathroom!!

So glad you're loving it! I'm fine with the oval sink unless you're just ready for a change. I'd keep the black knobs simple to keep with the rustic vibe. I have knobs that are actual rocks in my kitchen. Those could be fun!

Cher, I found mine on rejuvenation.com, but they don't have the ones I bought anymore (they are round and have a honeycomb pattern on them). They are made by a company called Kast in Ohio.

I haven't been on here for months...of course we're off working on yet again another project...the basement!!!:)

As for the barhroom...we haven't done the cement countertop yet...but still plan to at some point:)

Indomom- I found the perfect knobs. Black cast iron ones...they look like my mirror design. Check out my new basement dilemma too:)

All the light plates need to be changed out to white. Move the towel rack someplace else; it cant stay where it is, it is too big and bulky and just doesn't fit. The lamp on your counter has no place in a bathroom .

Linda- thanks for reminding me to change the light plates...an easy thing to overlook:) As for the light on counter...I think you were looking at the earlier renovation pics...if you look further down...it is completed now & I just finished finding the knobs to finish it off! I love how it turned out:)

This dilemma is pretty much finished now...thank you very much for all your help!!!!
