My Gingham story

About 40 years ago, I was invited to a shower for a niece. This was before I really started quilting but I made a quilt with alternating squares of green gingham and white eyelet. Probably used poly batting and it was tied. While at the shower, I was asked by someone if I would make one for her. I didn't know this women, a friend of a friend, but the next day, I started a red and white version. Well, you all know what happened. She never called or came to get it.

Shortly after, my neighbour became a grandmother and lucky me, I had a quilt to give her. She said that as the baby, Danny, grew, he had to have that quilt on his crib.

Just last year, I met Danny, and asked if he remembered the quilt. When he heard I had made it, he was so excited and gave me the biggest hug. His mother still has it, saving it for him.

And I am sure I have some gingham in one of the bins, so I think I will dig it out and get sewing.
