NEED SOFA ADVICE!

Moved into a lovely new, more contemporary home 3 years ago after living 30 years in a colonial. I needed mostly all new furniture. After 2 years of being here I finally ordered a new sofa with chaise in white that was 117". Sofa was delivered and only at the end of the day did I realize that the sofa was only 97" (it had been 8 weeks since I ordered it). The company said they would order me the correct size and redeliver. Next week the 117" sofa will be arriving and I have the option now to keep the 97" at a discounted price. I do not have any furniture in my den yet and am thinking of keeping the 97" to put in there. My question is this - is it a faux pas to have the same sofa in 2 different rooms even if I use different decorative pillows and the whole den itself will be totally decorated differently than my living room?

As long as it is a great discount and you like it, keep it. You will not be breaking any decorating laws that I know so I don't think the decorating police will be able to issue a citation :) Your room looks great.

That sofa is so neutral (yet inviting) that I think you can make it look entirely different in two separate rooms. If you are happy with it in the den and satisfied with the bargain, then do it.

Is that your home? What a view!

It's a very nice, classic sofa, it will save you the trouble of looking for another one, and you're getting a discount. I'm sure you can make this work. Lovely room and view.

I love your sofa! I think there is no problem having two of the same in different rooms. Plus your getting a deal to boot!

I honestly can't imagine anyone is going to notice - I couldn't begin to tell you what my friends' sofas look like. (And if someone does notice I really can't imagine they'd care or somehow think poorly of you.) If it won't bother you I say go for it.

Thank you everyone for your advice. I think I will keep the smaller sofa and just change it up a bit with the pillows and throws.
