Warm grey mapei equivalent?

Trying to pick a light gray grout color. WIP bathroom pics attached. I continue to be drawn to projects that use mapei warm grey, but my contractor does not like mapei grout. Prefers custom building products (from Home Depot). Thoughts on what light grey I should use: platinum, oyster grey, DeLorean Gray or other? Thanks in advance! Marble tile is Carrera, and our countertop is Carrera marble too.

Platinum is more like Mapei's warm grey. The Greystone would look nice with the floor color.

Mapei is a good brand -- did you contractor say why he didn't like it??

Also, maybe this should be obvious, but are you talking about a grout color for the walls or for the floor? A good way to get informed advice is to include the sample rods in a photo, so we can judge them relative to the other finishes in your actual lighting.

Thank you both for your input!

@acm our lighting/sconces aren't installed yet and won't be before I have to pick grout. But I will try and add some pics of the bathroom with the grout samples

Hi Jane, what color did you end up going with? I'm having the exact same problem. I, too, like the Warm Gray. Our walls are Anew Gray (SW) and we're doing white subway tile backsplash. I'm leaning toward Platinum or Cape Gray. Would love to see pics of your finished product! Thanks in advance!

Hi there, long story...but in the end I was going to go with mapei warm grey but Lowe’s stopped carrying mapei in stores and I was up against a deadline and didn’t have time to order online so I went with a color from their new grout brand (TEC power) “mist” but I gotta say. It ended up looking very delorean grey, maybe just a tad lighter. But we are very happy with it!

Thanks for replying and posting pics! It looks great! Ours is going in next week. We decided on Platinum. I hope we like it. :)

Platinum was the way to go for something closer to warm grey. Good call!

@jmdilapi. I am also trying to pick grout color for white subway tile. The platinum looks great! Provides more contrast than I thought (which I like but don’t want too dark). Is the Platinum you used from Custom building products? Doesn’t look too silver in photos - is it? Thanks!

    Hi jrenglad0310,

Yep! That's the one. It's at Home Depot. Your friend has shared a link to a Home Depot product they think you would be interested in seeing.

    Polyblend #115 Platinum 10 lb. Non-Sanded Grout

    https://www.homedepot.com/p/202647231

Here's another pic when it's definitely fully dry. (we've been here 8 months haha). We love it! Not silvery. Just grey.

We are doing our kitchen backsplash with beveled edge White subway. Our quartz is MSI Laza I think finally nailed it down Warm Gray grout by Mapei I was deciding between that and Smoke Gray. My concern was warm Gray looking to beige did anyones grout read that way after install?

Mapei Grey has IMO a Taupe/Beige undertone especially if you compare to an actual grey color. Platinum has IMO a very slight bluish undertone but reads more grey when compared to Warm Grey. I just did two sample boards using both grouts with a Grey Penny Tile and I like the Platinum better however I really want Polyblend Cape Grey which is a very light grey but Homedepot is having a hard time shipping things due to the pandemic so am forced to choose between the other two.
