Two years ago I planted a Black Mission and a Brown Turkey and last year an LSU Purple in zone 9b/10a, Threw out the Brown Turkey as it did not grow well. the Black Mission has grown, but only produced a couple of figs yet. The LSU - well it began producing soon after planting and has hardly stopped. Figs seem to taste ok if they ripen fully. Have so many figs, that I end up cooking with most of them and roasting them for salads. I've been really happy with it - but that may be due to such failure with those other two types!

you might want to give it another year to give it more maturity. I've seen this with my figs and oranges...and roses (not taste of course but bloom). this year My green fig (I always forget the name!) the flavor was not so good but we had a lot of rain just as they were ripening. I think the flavor was better last year. That's just my 2 cents.

This is an old thread but sellers of this fig reccommend waiting until maturity to eat fruit for this reason, taste improves as tree ages.

That being said... might wanna pull it up and bag it and offer it on craigslist or something. Many people who like that cultivar might want it.
