No, sorry, but I have a suggestion. I saw 'Comtesse de Rocquigny at S.j.H.R.G. and didn't like the appearance of its' rough foliage, I prefer a similar rose 'Boule de Neige' for fragance, beauty and attractive leaves. Lisa wrote that High Country Roses has Boule de Neige.

Toto, I was looking into this rose. I check HMF, looks great but I try to see anyone grows this rose or why I haven't heard if it until I stumble only yours.

also download a few pics...looks so beautiful. It seems it can grow from a huge range of zones. I wonder if it likes humidity or even get BS ?!!

I hear very good things about Greenmantle Nursery. It would be on its own root so it may take some time to come into its own. It is a beautiful rose!

This rose has been on my hopeful 'someday' list but I've never seen it mentioned anywhere. Not many roses that look like this are hardy in z5.

This rose amazed me Bec it is a found rose but it sure looks so much like English rose.
I heard a lot of great things on this nursery and they carry a rose I want so much Anna Oliver. Everyone else sells Bermuda Anna Olivia and I absolutely loves Jackie's roses - AO.

One did not make it through our crazy harsh winter. Multiple days -50 below. More school days cancelled than I can ever remember. They rarely cancel school so it was ..bad. I am surprised on what did come back although they are maybe an inch or so from the ground. Houzz is being weird.

Rosepetalsnursery must gotten another one. Cydney said she will stick some cuttings!! Hopefully they will take!!

Did you happen to read about Comtesse on the Hedgerowrose website ? I came across it about a year ago and thought that is one incredibly beautiful rose, the buds are exquisite.

I got a little band of the Comtesse at Rosalia in Sebastopol last May, presumably from the Vintage collection. I have hovered over it and nursed it along in pot, and about a month ago it went into the ground. Almost immediately, it sent up a big, stout basal from underground! The buds and blooms are exquisite, and it is less prone to PM than most bourbons here.

As promised, here are photos from today of the Comtesse de Rocquigny's latest bloom, plus two other Bourbons that are new to my yard, from a recent Bourbon-binge (non-alcoholic kind). They are all little things, less than 2 years old, so nowhere near their full potential, but each bloom is still a little treasure.

Thanks, Kelly. The 'Comtesse de Rocquigny' I bought as a band at the celebration of roses/sale hosted by the Friends of Vintage Roses in Sebastopol, CA, May of last year. Presumably it was propagated from a plant in the Vintage collection being maintained by them. 'Blanche Lafitte' I also got last year, in April, at the Open Garden and rose sale held at the Old City Cemetery in Sacramento, CA. "Keith's bourbon-noisette" came from the San Jose Heritage Rose Garden.

I love Keith's Bourbon too.

Bourbons in general (too soon to know about these) don't seem to mind the hot summers here so much, probably due to their light-colored flowers and general sturdiness. 'Souvenir de la Malmaison', which I also have, blooms even in the worst heat. The scents are all strong and nice -- not spicy, more "bourbon-ish" or fruity, I think. The newly opened CdR blooms do have a warm, peachy tone in the center at first, which I really love.

this is one of my unicorn roses. ditto mrs bosanquet. I don't have many left anymore. Mabel Morrison, Mousseline, and those two are the extent of it.

You will have to attempt to root some cuttings!! So many old roses are being lost! I have a few that I may bring with me if I ever move.

Oh I should have mentioned/clarified--by unicorn I mean "mythical roses I've never seen and only heard of and would probably trade body parts for because I still don't have them" :p

As an update, my Comtesse plant is around a year and a half in the ground now. After several attempts to prune it like a hybrid tea and grow it as a shrub, it still insisted on shooting canes up to 8'+ afterwards, so "we" have decided to grow it as a pillar (no more room for large, spreading shrubs here, for sure). The plus side of that, as it is next to a path, is that a lot of flowers should be right at eye and nose level.

Well, okay, but not much to see on any of my Bourbons right now this year, it being a year when, as they often do, especially younger plants, the first flush balled and mildewed profusely due to the weather, not to mention a lot of mildewed leaves . Later flushes and leaves, when it is hot and dry, will be better, which is why I still grow them -- I resisted growing any of this class for a long time because of this tendency of theirs, then found they got better as plants got more established, on top of loving the blooms enough to put up with these initial disappointments. And, this is only the start of the third year in the ground for this plant, so it is still gaining strength and developing. When it blooms better, later in the season, I'll post more photos. (Note the new basal with a ton of buds, in front-left -- I'm finding this variety to be a strong grower.)
