Window treatments would be lovely.

if it were my home, i'd put up something. so many windows, no room for art... it looks very dead after dark no matter how lovely the daytime view for 1/4 of the year.

you can always have something up much of the year and take it down in sept and october. i switch out several rooms of window treatments seasonally.

maybe instead of window treatments, a more fabulous chandelier worth looking at.

I still love the look of white cafe curtains on rings. You have perfect windows for them. You can scoot them open during the day and close them at night. They will not obstruct your view but will provide softness.

Thank you for all the helpful advice! I did not really consider the "black hole" effect of the windows at night! The chandelier will definitely go with this renovation. I do like the look of the roman shades, but I would need to get ones that don't cover half the window all the time - they would need to come up more. The previous owner had very ornate valances over the windows, I thought that was very old school, no? I wasn't sure if people used valances anymore.

Roman Shades actually have a "self valance" at the top, so this is type type minimal look you could do. The Roman Shades can pull up almost to create about a 6-8" top and it would make the windows look great and open but give you some privacy and interest at night.

I like the Roman Shade solution but you would definitely want to mount them outside and above the actual window opening so they reveal the entire window when raised. A window covering professional could figure how much height you would need to accomplish this.
