Forgot to mention: The little plant is in a window facing West (cacti and Adeniums are doing ok there)

When you first planted it, the fine roots may have been shriveled up and it needed time and a regular watering routine to establish. Unpotting just sets it back again so put it back in a well drained mix, West window is fine, don't fertilizeit until you see it growing again and most of all, be patient.

S. trifasciata seems to do better with more moisture and (once rooted and established) regular fertilizing WHEN it is actively growing and WARM. I am in temperate NJ but like to put mine outside in the summer where they seem to really take off by late summer and reward me with new growth and pups (before being brought into my cool dark home for the long winter). You still have some good summer/fall weather left, put it in fresh soil and keep it a little more moist.....I would include some organic stuff in your mix, just make sure the mix is relatively fast draining, keep the plant warm and in good light.

Thank you, vitorama and woodnative! I included a bit of pine bark in the new mix and will water more frequently.I remember it didn't have any fine roots when I first gotit. Also, it was shipped at very low temps, but I don*t think that killed it...

Who can tell what's in a plant's mind. I had a leaf cutting potted for two years before it finally sent up a stock. Some plants of the same stock pot can grow over night while some go into shock and seems to never grow much. I used to use alfalfa meal with my watering due to it being a growth stimulant. I need to get back into that regime. Watch chemical fertilizers. Sans need very little and a little too much is worse than none at all.
