Your tree looks fine. Kumquats suffer more than any other citrus in weak colored leaves. Roots go where evere they please. It will fill in fine.

your better off with a grafted Meiwa.

hey, at least it has roots ;) Unlike the couple I got recently were one side of the rootball was missing, eek!

I'm not sure why people seem to treat citrus like they are afraid of damaging the roots. It sounds like people are afraid to disturb them in any way. Some plants certainly are less tolerant of root disturbance, so perhaps citrus are on that list?

While it is generally a good idea not to disturb roots unnecessarily, I do also think it is important to inspect the root ball if you suspect an issue. And for newly acquired plants, I generally end up using my own potting mix, so I know exactly what it is growing in, which is often times better than the grower mix.

Do I see a flower in the pic?

Yes shehas some flowers and even some fruits. After today there are still some on there. I told her today that I don't expect a lot just hold on to one or two fruits so I can have a taste. Hopefully she understands my tender care and love ;)

I got 5 fruits my first year, and split each one with my husband. I think they will taste even better now that she is a year older. Although, so far, I only see a few veryvery tiny fruits.

Now couple of months later reading hibiscus post makes me kinda feeling guilty. Ate them all by myself. Always on the way to somewhere a little fruit popped in my mouth. First one was not that great but after picking them when they turned color, they where awesome and I wish there would have been more. A handful of little ones still there that might need couple more weeks. Tree lost a lot more leafs but the once that stayed are nicely dark green. I'm wondering, is it normal that kumquats are putting out new flowers this time of year before growing more? This tree is busting out with flower buds everywhere even along the stem. Should I be nervous?

Kumquats will set flowers on old growth stems and trunks. You can safely prune a kumquat tree and it can still flower. My tree did the same.
