Input for final kitchen design.

I'm happy with it, but I 'm a little concerned about the fridge placement. The opening is wide enough to where it shouldn't be a problem, hopefully.

Have you thought about switching the peninsula to the right side where the current pantries are? You might loose some pantry cab space but maybe you can have a few wall cabinets going down to the countertop? Then move the fridge next to the dishwasher and tack on a pantry.

I'd put the microwave between the fridge and pantry so that space has a function.

The peninsula is 57 1/2 inches wide and the entire kitchen is 142 inches so subtracting the 25 1/2 from the other wall the passage is almost five feet wide. The microwave (and toaster oven) will be on the counter between the fridge and pantries. I didn't want a built in microwave for a variety of reasons.

Avacado girl, our fridge is currently directly across from out peninsula and it creates an annoying bottleneck (you literally can't get in or out of the kitchen if someone has the door open) so I was trying to move the fridge into the kitchen far enough to prevent that from happening. It's one of the things that annoys the most about my current layout. As far as switch sides for the peninsula, the entry door into my kitchen is to the right of the pantry so it would create an obstacle to getting into the kitchen.

Also debating full size or counter depth fridge. I think if I go counter depth, the layout is fine, just worried about storage space.

I think your plan is great! I don't see a need for a counter depth fridge in this layout. Where are you storing your dishes, glasses, flatware?

I plan on storing silverware in the drawer to the right of the sink and dishes and glasses in the upper cabinets to the left of the stove.

I wouldn't want frequently accessed silverware/glasses/dishes in the back corner of my kitchen. I try to keep that stuff near the kitchen entrance and also keep traffic out of the prep zone.

You might plan your cabinets on the peninsula and across from the peninsula so they can be back up storage for those things in case your plan doesn't work well. I think you'll need about 21" between the peninsula cabinet and the dishwasher to be able to have them open for unloading at the same time.

I could easily store them across them the peninsula, I just thought it would be more convenient to have them closer to the sink. Didn't think about people getting in the way with the prep zone. The set of drawers to the left of the dishwasher is 15 inches wide. I didn't store anything over there because the drawers facing into the kitchen won't open if the dishwasher is.

Is the cab perpendicular to the dw 24" wide? If so, maybe you could turn it toward the aisle for easy dw unloading.

It is but I think I would rather use the cabinets you first suggested.

That area between fridge and pantry might be a good place for glass doors for something hutch-like. Just a thought.

One more thought, Cheryl... Is the kitchen window existing? If it's new, I was wondering if a section could be added at the peninsula so those seated had view/natural light.

I think the plan is good. My personal preference is for counter-depth refrigerators unless the full depth one can be recessed a bit. My personal favorite is built-in, which is never budget-friendly.

Benjesbride, the windows are not currently existing. I thought about taking the windows down that far but it may bother me too much to not have the window centered over the sink? It's definitely something I've been thinking about. If I don't do that, I will put a few open shelves in that space.

Palmpsest, thank you! We can't recess the fridge more than an inch or two because our living room is on the other side of that wall, but I much prefer the look of counter depth. I don't know if I can make it work though. If we do go full depth, I will buy the shallowest one I can find and bring the side panels to the edge of the side and pull the cabinet over it so that it's flush with the panels.
