Thank you for the response Susanne. I will get a moisture meter and put holes in the pot. I don't want to repot because I just did, and would like to avoid any more stress for Clet. He is outside in the sun right now. He has always been an inside plant and I'm in Canada so the weather can get pretty cold. I'm using bush and hedge soil, that is what they recommended at the store. I will try and put him out more to get more sun. What do the dark green spots mean?

Nole if there is root rot, you might not get the tree around. Did you remove all the soil when you repotted the tree? had a chance to look at the roots? If you answer all with yes, then by all means, leave the tree in the pot. And not in full sun for now to prevent sunburn. Shady spot under a tree would be perfect. Bush and hedge soil will compact too much and in the long rune will make more problems. Cacti/succulent soil would be much better. Or search the forum for 5-1-1 mix. What dark green spots???

Don't bother getting a moisture meter because they are very unreliable. Use your finger instead. Dig down a couple of inches to see if the soil feels moist.

Yes, you can use a wooden dowel by shoving it halfway between the tree and the wall of the pot and all the way to the bottom. Pull it out and if you see particles on it, then it does not need watering.

Drill lots of holes in the bottom of the container, don't let the tree sit in water. I would remove the very low branch which is closer to soil.

Check for spider mites too, if the leaves are going a bit speckled. I found mine by tapping the leaves and gently shaking the plant while holding a piece of white paper underneath. Then I stared at the dark specks (like fine black pepper) until they started moving.

Not saying it's not being overwatered, just that there could be pests too.
