I got my LSU purple in April when it was just a bare trunk. Since then it has leafed out and appears to be growing well. However, most of the growth is at the top of the tree and I would like to encourage some branches to grow lower down. I was thinking of removing the top 2-3 branches, in hopes of encouraging more growth below. Will this work? Should I wait another season before I think of pruning? Is this a good time of year to cut? First time fig owner so all advice is welcome
