Coordinating wall paint?

I need help determining a kitchen wall color to go with lime washed cabinets. Should I use a dark color or light color? It's currently a golden yellow but we would like to paint the rest of the house (including area leading into the kitchen) in different shades of brown. Any suggestions? I'm open to any colors.

I would use a canvas or parchment color they go with anything, more neutral. Then it would not take away or clash with the cabinets.
