Chamomile, fly poop, and dirt.

Does anyone wash their fresh cut chamomile flowers before drying them?? I haven't found anything on the Internet about cleaning them. There's plenty about drying them but nobody mentions washing them off like a lot of other herbs. There seems to be too much dirt and too many little bugs to be skipping that step. Especially if they're going to be used for tea! There's also an abundance of flies that like to hang out on my chamomile. I have dozens of plants and they're just covered in flies every single day! I have to shake the plants before I can start clipping the flowers and then they buzz around my head, fly right into my face, and up my nose! Its quite gross. So if anyone does wash their chamomile, suggestions on the best way to do it would be greatly appreciated.... because I really don't want to drink fly poop and dirt.
