My immediate impression is that the color is too cool and too light to go with all the warm tones on your house. Brick, warm white siding, brown roof. Try going to the Benjamin Moore dealer and asking to see bolder accent colors to go with those tones. A door that sets off the brick and creates a focal point would be great. There are some SW colors that include Chatroom (mid-tone) and Hardware (dark) that are shades of warm gray that matches grout and really sets off the brick, but I don't know how it would look with the yellow-white siding. I have the same brick and Chatroom and Hardware are great! Think about painting the window trim and storm door frame black! Good luck.

I would pick one of the colors from the brick!

Same thing happened when I painted my door BM Azores, it looked like baby blue. The glass in the storm door distorts the color. I would paint it the same brown as the storm door, makes more of an impact

What is off is your storm door is brown, framing the blue and making the door look smaller. Either paint the door brown, or paint the storm blue.

My vote is a dark brown door, done in semi-gloss finish.

1. Thank you all so much! I think you are right about the storm door frame making it appear smaller. I had some chips of SW Urbane Bronze and Turkish Coffee at home, so I held them up to get an idea. I think I like the idea of a darker brown door. Bumping just in case anyone else has some suggestions for my house.

You're welcome Erin. It's not totally accurate, especially if you're putting light over dark, but it give you an idea for a direction to take.

I much prefer a contrasting to a blending door color, so I'd repaint the storm door and keep the front door color. anyway, the dark storm door doesn't tie into anything -- your window frames are lighter, your gutters and trim are lighter... fix the odd man out!

however, I do think that when the storm door is closed and the door looks a bit greenish, it's probably too close to your siding color. (when I started to Photoshop the storm door frame to the door color, it almost disappeared.) you might need a more saturated version of the color to really get a contrast.

IMO, the other issue is the Victorian door style with your modern home.

I agree about the Victorian door style. I do intend to replace it eventually. I figured I might as well do my color experimenting on this door so that I can at least figure out a good color scheme. We have looked at so many colors my head is spinning! I like to be able to open the front door occasionally, and it opens into my living room. So that's one of the reasons I went with wythe blue initially.

Also, acm thank you for opening my eyes to the possibility of painting the storm door. I looked at some examples on Houzz, and it makes a big difference!

Agree with what's been said above. I like katinpardise color selection for your door. maybe do the trim around storm door same as light siding?

Is there anyway you could use the siding color for the window trim? On the very inner trim that crosses the window? all the brown w/the brown shades is too much. just try the lighter color on the inside and see if you like it. Or try it on the larger trim around the window. one of the two.
