No picture. But to answer your question, The Meyer does not need support. If it looks gangly to you, then might not have enough light? Or loaded with fruits and too heavy for a little tree? Yup, picture and a bit more info would be awesome :)

I am sure more hours of direct sun light would improve the trees shape but this will be difficult to do. Because of the need for frequent watering, I need to keep the tree close to my house which puts it in the shade a lot. The mix is 5-1-1 and the Georgia summer heat demands almost dailey watering.

Leave it as it is. It will strengthen up. Put it in full sun. You can try to put drip irrigation. Actually a ring of soaker tube around the plant base. 511 and drip irrigation do not mix.

Looks fine to me. That's how Meyers grow. I suspect once it gets really established it will start to send up some more upright shoots.

In the first picture it does not look like a meyer lemon to me. Maybe mandarin tree or rootstock took over?? The leaves from Meyer would be more egg shaped. Fruit looks too round to me too.
