I really like your inspiration photo. I think it is important to paint the soffits white to help enhance the white. Also, If you are still concerned, trim out the exterior windows with a wider trim. Please share after photos when finished! Great home!

I'm in agreement with your gable extension, white trim, including on the deck (especially ... as I don't think weathered wood is a good look for a house) and soffits. Also agree the the prior comment about wider trim on windows. Shutters may be helpful to you there (in spite of the fact that even my commenting about it will bring out the shutter-haters.) Not as crazy about that dark of a color as in your inspiration picture. I prefer a medium range. Many gorgeous greys/taupes and they can be tinted to go in a variety of flavors ... sagey, seafoamish, plumish, for example.
