Plant box has been in yard for years

Can you do some sort of rock filled swale to take the water away? That is what we did. We are basically in the side of a mountain. We get some crazy rain storms. A lot of water comes down the hill on the right. The water flows into the swale and then flows down the swale and away from where we dont want it.

Your yard is lovely. Maybe a border wall, extending the top of the planter wall to end at the tree. Another terrace level below, from the planter level to rock formation. With half the slope solid granite we have only the exposed earth to landscape. I need to stabilize the earth and direct water to prepared gully (French drain), which will be empty alongside the house. This process should be repeated until reaching the small platform at the bottom of the slope. Maybe level the earth parallel to the drain. Add stepping stones. Each level will support the earth and can be finished with gravel. Perhaps incorporate xeriscaping to secure the gravel in place. I just don’t have a plan to layout that I can show landscaper what to do.

Agree with laceyvail. Your ”landscaper” doesn’t appear to be a real landscaper.

You need ideas on what to tell him what to do? He doesn’t know what to do? WTH? What a joke. Pay him what’s owed and send him on down the road.

I also agree strongly with laceyvail. Your situation needs skilled professional advice & those people should be explaining to you what’s needed to save your house from landslides caused by torrential rains

It looks like the grade is to the right and down the hill for any swales or drains. It's difficult to tell by a photo.

I would suggest some jute netting and straw tubes as seen on road cuts.
