I like the mix of the "busy" tile you will be returning and a gold glass tile, like in Jessica Ogg's photos (2 on the right). I don't see much grey in the granite. Lots of decisions. I can't wait to see the end result!

I like the ivory and light gray, but I'm not a designer, so be sure to get more opinions. I would stick to your plan of one color only. Your kitchen is very nice and I can see the gray working in there - the nice cabinet pulls demonstrate that (they look great) and I do see quite a bit of gray in your very nice granite. I think the taupe is bad with the cabinet color. Which picture is the tan? I'm thinking tan also might not be very good with the cabinets. So my vote is ivory or light gray - it will be fun to see more opinions.

Your showcase piece is that wonderful granite! I love it. So I was thinking to keep the backsplash simple. The glass tile backsplash will give the kitchen a nice sheen and elegance. Your overall kitchen area is lovely - very warm! I agree with others that gray-tones would not go with the warm golden tile. I know whatever you choose will look lovely because you're other choices in the kitchen a beautiful.

Have you considered taking the granite up and making it the back splash?

I agree with alexisryan - keep it simple and let the granite be the star. No doubt the ivory would work well and I'm not sure about the light gray. I think it might be great too, but I'm not as sure about the light gray as the ivory. Several of the pictures show quite a bit of gray in the granite. I'll look for some pictures on Houzz to see if I can find a warm granite with a gray glass tile so we can see how it looks. I agree you've done a fantastic job so far so you'll make a great choice.

Yes I love those wonderful tiles too (your most recent post above). I've stopped and admired that picture many times. I couldn't find examples of the warm granite/cool backsplash mix, but when you narrow your choice to two, maybe set if up as a poll on Houzz with clear pictures. Polls always draw a lot of interest. It would be fun to see how the votes go.

I'm confused - are you using two colors in your backsplash (e.g., light gray and ivory)? I thought you were just choosing one color. Also, I see the granite on the sample board but I'm not sure which tiles it's being compared to. Could you maybe put a sticky note or something on the corner of the actual small tile(s) you're considering?

Same here. I think that you need to take 2 photos:one with each option: granite and tile combination. I think you may need to post it again as a poll if you'd like to do that. Give us close ups : )

Take lightest color in granite and go that in back splash.

Well, if you can't use that one, then maybe it's OK to say I prefer the ivory. You might find it a little boring, but it sure would work well in your kitchen.

I wouldn't do yellow or blue. At one point you liked light gray and several people thought that was a good choice. Have you ruled that out?

I'm with Roxanne - keep it simple and elegant. I would not consider yellow or blue tile. I still think a shiny glass ivory tile would look lovely.

Sometimes less really is more!!

We just went through a complete kitchen update and found this antique gold granite....some areas are a little bit busy so we wanted something simple and timeless on our back splash. I really was tempted to do a creamy ivory subway tile (which would have worked beautifully) but decided on honed travertine 3 x 6 with antique ivory grout. We did thinner grout lines and sealed the entire surface. It is so easy to keep clean and definitely timeless.

Boiling down all the posts you've made, it seems like you might be bored if you just choose one color. One of the options you listed was to use two colors, either light grey and ivory or light tan and ivory. If one of the tiles available in a larger size, like 2x11, comes in two colors to match your granite, I think you will love it. You loved the one you returned except that it was too busy, so if you just cut down the busyness by restricting to just 2 colors and making the size a lot bigger, you can keep the interest without clashing with the granite. Like the look of the photo you posted with "This isn't glass but it's wonderful tiles," but just with only 2 colors.

I think that's the best decision! You have a great kitchen and I'd hate to see it get messed up. The ivory will be very safe and keep the focus on the great decisions you've made so far!

Here is a picture I took in a granite showroom. This is the same granite you picked - (they call it lapidus here). I am going with the tumbled stone back splash shown in the pictures that they paired it with in the showroom. Just throwing it out there . . . what do you think?

I might have picked a busy backsplash but it certainly will not bore me over the yrs!!

Ivory would be my choice. However if you are not sure, then just wait. The paint looks fine. Whatever you do, I would not do travertine as it is very dated looking and fights with ur granite.

I THINK THAT FOR MY TASTE, WHICH IS MODERN N CONTEMPORARY, THE BACKSPLASHES THAT U ALL HAVE CHOSEN, EVEN N THE SHOWROOM IS TO BUSY. U CAN'T APPRECIATE THE GRANITE WHEN U HAVE SO MUCH GOING ON WITH THE BACKSPLASH UNLESS ITS A PERFECT PAIRING. THANKS FOR UR INPUT THOUGH.

Castle I've been waiting 6 years had two returns and paid $200 in restocking fees. Im gonna pick the ivory n play it safe. The problem also is that my credit is with this one store so although they have plenty Im limited to their selections.

I've learned a lot reading your postings. I have just about the same granite and I been looking for the right backsplash for about a year. I keep going back to an ivory or cream color tile. I think you we're smart to start this discussion to help you decide. You also help me decide, thanks Marlana

You have chosen a stunning granite and the cabinets also have a beautiful warm color! I think you should pick the ivory glass tile. If you choose a backsplash color or pattern that is too strong or busy it will compete for attention, and none of the elements will look good. JMHO. I personally love that particular style of subway tile that you picked and wouldn't worry that it won't stand out or receive the attention it deserves. If you choose the right color for the backsplash, it will complements the countertop and they each will look stunning! Can't wait to see pics of your final selection :-)

I think the color of your walls would pair well with a darker subway tile. More of a chocolate or dark brown. Your cabinets are a great color along with the wall color, but there is nothing grounding all of the colors. Am I alone in this?

I still have not selected a tile. I was wondering if I could use a SS backsplash with round or rectangular shapes?
