Furniture & TV placement in living room

Hi all! We just moved in to a new house and can't decide where is the best place to put the TV and how to arrange the furniture around it.

The carpet is going to be removed and the tile will be extended to the rest of the living room area. That bookcase to the right of the fireplace is built in.

I feel like the only two places are that empty wall and above the fireplace. The previous owners had the TV in the corner, left of the fireplace.

While above the fireplace seems to be the most aesthetically pleasing, I don't feel like there is a enough distance for comfortable viewing (unless we were to get an up and down mount). If we were to move the furniture further back, it would start to go into dining table territory and obstruct the flow of traffic from the hallway to the sliding glass doors.

There leaves the the empty wall in which I'm at a loss on how to arrange the furniture. Would it look awkward there since the couch would end up blocking the backyard view? How can we arrange this without making the area feel closed off?

This is new for us, so we're pretty lost. Any suggestion is much appreciated! Thank you!

That is a challenge. I have neighbors with your floor plan, right down to the dinette set and the bay window. They have their sofa on the big wall and the tv angled in the corner to the right of the fireplace...but they don't have a bookshelf there. You have some nice built-ins with the bookshelf and the bar. I wonder if you could get a curved sofa or sectional and place it near the sliding doors facing the corner to the left of the fireplace and put the tv on the big wall.

The tv should go wither in the left corner or on the left wall. Face furniture towards tv and fireplace

I see outlets by the bookcase so a chair and floor lamp will turn that into a reading nook with a nice view of the FP. If the chair swivels, it can turn to see outside too. Pano pix are warping perspective, and we don't know if you have furniture or are starting from scratch. How many feet are there between the FP and the bar? Can we have a rough floor plan with measurements? It looks spacious if you don't have an overstuffed leather sectional and a mega lounge chair.

My suggestion is sofa in center of fireplace so that it's back lines up with the wall/doorway to make a natural sectioning off of that living space. I would do 2 small chairs on left wall facing toward the outside. I would do end table to left side of sofa and possible a table in between the 2 chairs and not do a coffee table since you say that space would be crowded and you want to keep the flow open to the right of the sofa next to doors. I would do tv over fireplace. Can't imagine you wouldn't get glare if its to the left or on that left wall. Happy decorating!

I appreciate the suggestions guys! I'm back with some rough measurements. Sorry it's not too professional looking. Also included some more photos to give a better idea about the space. We barely have any furniture at this time and are starting the living room from scratch. Thanks again!

TK you have plenty of room. You can even put a chair in front of that window and still have a walk way and see the tv per my suggestion from above. Any thoughts to painting your brick? It would lighten that area. You have a lovely home and it's gonna look wonderful.

If you are not attached to the built in cabinet, as long as you are removing the carpet, I would suggest removing the cabinet. It would visually open up the space and not block off the right side of the fireplace wall or look unbalanced with the window and sliding door. Mocreidl shows some great furniture arrangements. I like a couch and two chairs with end tables, lamps, ottomon or coffee table anchored by a large area rug. The room is a nice space. Can't wait to see what you do.
