........Dutchess County NY.....zone 6A..........the larger paired leaves are a bit over an inch along the long axis.....the seed capsule?? is about 5/16 inch long

It may be an euonymus, but the picture is so poor, I can't tell for certain. A better photo and preferably the whole plant also, would help.

I concur, Euonymus alatus, which is invasive in much of the US and should not be planted, esp in the eastern US.

It also gets as big as a house.
