I agree with Ingrid. It is a charming room, but the angled furniture feels very "off" to me. Speaking tom my own experience, my sofa used to set at the same angle as the corner television cabinet. The room always felt uncomfortable to me, until I moved the sofa parallel to the fireplace. Also, is the fabric laying on the chair new, or a close-up of what is on the chair currently? fabric. It has a similarity in pattern to the one you're replacing, and don't like.

Thanks for the feedback! The fabric on the chair is a swatch of the old stuff. I angled the furniture because I got tired of my former configuration and just wanted a change. Ingrid, I'd love an area rug but my hubby trips over them and hates them...after 35 years, I haven't been successful in getting him to pick up his feet!

I think a wide stripe would be nice. Wide stripes have more presence and without a rug your room can handle it.
