Hi Lily,

I am from Canada, but on the other side of the continent, Vancouver Island, B.C.

1, 2. - I would leave in the pots they are in for size. As long as the soil is free draining. Water passes through the soil quickly. 1" either side is good and not too much deeper. If you go with too deep a pot, say 4"-5" deeper, then this portion of the soil remains wet longer and may cause root issue.

3. - Do not raise at this time. Wait until they grow larger in girth of caudex. Raising can be an individual preference. I do not like raising mine if the caudex (widest part of trunk) looks to be sitting like a Ball on top of the soil. Like it when the widest part is right at soil level.

4. - The length of time between waterings will depend on the conditions they have. Wait to water until the top 1/2 of the soil has dried. If they are receiving sun for 8 - 10 hrs./ day, will be different than if they are only getting 5hrs. of sunlight.

5. The frequency of watering will be gauged by how quickly they dry back. This will depend on conditions they are receiving. Watering in the winter months may mean only giving them an ounce or two every month, still depending on situation. Through out the winter, they can retain leaves or lose them. They will go dormant. Even if they retain their leaves in the winter. If they are not putting on new growth, then they should still be considered dormant. Follow the plants state of growth or lack there of.

7. - Would review this in the next year or so.

The first one looks to have a nice full bloom coming and nice color.

Please don't feel bad about asking too much questions, it is how we learn. Your Adeniums look very healthy, I would love to see some pic when the flower buds open.

Where were you able to find grafted Adenium in Toronto if you don't mind me asking? I've been looking everywhere and cannot find a nursery that sells them.

Lily, Nice to have someone such as Laydee Luv living in close proximity. It is nice to be able to bounce things off someone that lives with the same or similar climate and conditions.

Thank you so much for your response. I've been out to Vancouver Island and love it there! My husband and I plan on going back sometime and possibly head up to Banff while we are out west. Just need to find the time.

The mix looks quite "peaty" to me (I will leave a picture). It looks like they added perlite to help with drainage, but I'm not sure if that's enough? Based on the photo (let me know if there's a better photo I can include), should I leave the mix as is or change to my grittier mix (mainly grit and pumice, smaller amount of turface, smallest amount of coir/perlite/vermiculite)? I think I read somewhere it's best not to disturb the plant when it's in bloom, is that correct i.e. should I wait until it's done blooming to change out the mix (if changing the mix is warranted)?

I will definitely update this post with progress photos as time goes on. Would love to keep hearing from you regarding care and what to do next with them. Thank you again for your advice, I will definitely follow. Let's see how these little guys turn out!

Thank you! Nice to meet another Torontonian :). I got them from a nursery called Crystal Star Orchids. They are located in East Gwillimbury. Since I live downtown, they were able to ship it out to me without too much fuss. When they get shipments, they post an update on their Facebook and you can message them to reserve a plant. I've bought other succulents/cacti from them at the Toronto C&S show in the past and felt that their plants were quite healthy (all succulents in the photo below are from CSO).

Here is a picture of one of the blooms that opened up this morning! Happy to post more once the blooms open (Sorry I realized the picture is a touch blurry). I ordered the purple you see there, a pink/white one seen in the back and red that's not pictured here (that was the one with the least leaves in the initial post). The red will be a gift to my mother for her birthday. They had an amazing black and red one for sale but it was sold out by the time I got my order in, next time :)

Rick, I'll look into those components. In the meantime, I'll be careful with watering. I've been slowly putting it out into a shaded area on the terrace for air flow, so hopefully that will help. Thank you!

Rick, what is the limestone for?

Manda, The limestone, I should have called it Gypsum. It is only a small amount, approximately 1 Tablespoon to 1 Gallon of soil mix. Adds Calcium.
