What are these trees dropping? Cherries? Plums? Damsons?

Found a few fruit bearing trees around our area & not 100% sure what the fruit is? At first I thought they may be rainier cherries, but then they could be some sort of Damson or Plum? The fruit is ripe as it's started to fall and it's VERY sweet in taste (akin to a rainier cherry) and has a stone in the middle. I'm in the UK/England if that helps identify :) Any ideas?
