Have done & doing again! I don't find it to be a "cold floor" problem... but I'm always hot, so yeeaahhh.... we've remodeled/flipped 12 homes & have done it frequently; moving again this week & will be continuing.
In my personal experience, I find it to be actually LESS loud than wood flooring, less "give", I assume? & with today's options, you can get rough-hewn woodlook, marble-look, striated.... tons of options that can look vastly different from room-2-room, especially against different floors! We do wood flooring a lot as well, so I will offer a quick suggestion: be careful if you decide to go with more than 1 type flooring & you have rooms that flow into each other. Pix below.

Porcelain floor tiles make a lot of sense in a beach house. I'd look at different options though. That weathered gray wood tile will look extremely dated in a couple years. Find something more classic that will stand the test of time.
