Roger seeds

Thank you so much For the seeds you sent me!

On 8/8/17 I soaked the seeds in warm water for 2 hours. Then, planted in 1 part seed starter, 1 part coco fiber, and 1 part perlite. At the bottle I place coco coir and a little grit on the top.

3 days later some started to germinate. As of right now, 12 out of 20 have germinated.

Can I take the humidity domes off and can they receive sun light now?

Manda, I would take the cover on and off to prevent any mould , I would not remove the cover off completely untill more seeds germinate and the 1st set of leaves become fully open. Good Luck!

    Nice seedlings!

    Thank you both!

    One Month Update

    7 White/Purple

    I like this one.

This one I'm not sure what happened to it. It has a hole in it.

    3 Courtest

And another one with a hole.

1 White and red with black edges. For the longest time it had no leaves but leaves started to grow on 9/4. It is much smaller than all the others. There were 2 but one died on 8/20. It also had no leaves.

I forgot to mention they are in full sun but there hasn't been much sun here the past month. It's been very rainy/cloudy. Do they look elongated or do they look normal? Can I start fertilizing them at half strength?

I'm no expert for sure but they look like very healthy seedlings to me. The fact that their leaves are so very close together and that there isn't a whole lot of space from leaf node to leaf node and that they are very compact would indicate to me that they are not etoliated. If there were long spaces or gaps between each leaf as if the plant was stretching trying to find more light, then I would think that would be etoliation. Yours look great to me, though.

Tyler, thank you so much for responding. I didn't know how to tell if they were elongated or not, but now I do. Thank you! Would you have any idea about the ones with the holes?

Hi Manda. No I don't. Maybe something took a bite, like a cutworm, then decided it wasn't so tasty after all?

Lol. Hmm, I haven't seen any worms but who knows. Thanks you!

The cutworms are very sleuthy. The stay just below the soil surface & come out at night or on overcast days when they do their damage, eating away at the stem of plants, especially tender young ones, right at the soil level. What gardeners typically see is healthy seedlings one day and plants laying down where they were cut down the next morning. That's why I suggested maybe it wasn't so tasty to them & they changed their minds.

Maybe someone else will chime in if they've seen similar damage in their plants.

Oh my! They sound like horrible like things. Thank you telling me about them. I will definitely keep an eye out for them with all my seedlings.

Thanks for the info on cut worms. I've read that eggshells will get rid of them.

    2 Months Old Update

Sorry the color is a little off in the pics.

    White/Purple

i just put them in their own pots. I think they are a little discolored and crispy on some of the tips because I left them in a shallow group pot for too long.

    Courtest

White and red with black edges.

I have no clue what is with this one. .????

Good job Manda, my seedlings are around 1.5 weeks younger than yours and definitely smaller than yours. That full sun has definitely made a difference.
