You have to give permission for others to contact you before you will be aloud to contact other . You can only contact other that have given permission. I am reachable through PM. When this forum was owned by I Village there was a box available to check to get and receive private messages. I clicked it 5 years ago when I joined.

Everything is more difficult since it became part of Houzz. Now I think it has something to do with following or being followed. I don't know; but I went to my page and could find nothing to click to allow or disallow emails.

John You are part correct. You can change it to none or every one. I just changed mine to everyone. I am now going to test it.

if you go to your profile, and click on settings and then advanced settings, you will see the option to let others, or only people you are following, or no one message you!

Sunshine, I just sent you a message. Could you please reply to see if I get messages. I am supposed to get emails whenever, for example, anyone posts replies to posts, but no longer get these even though the settings are correct.

Not sure why but makes me feel good to have tackled this messaging system.

I have not gotten any messages. It may be a connected with houzz problems I have been having all along. I emailed them a long time ago about not being notified about new postings and went back and forth with emails and finally gave up.

KC, no need to follow on Facebook. Just following on Houzz is enough to private messaging here.

Sunshine, you don't even need to follow! The pull down menu will give you the option to receive messages from everyone!
