That looks nice & different...have you found it? Do you know what metal it is...seems it has to be a stainless steel, the only thing I'd be worry about cleaning it.

You could probably have something made. Find a coppersmith perhaps. Anyone capable of doing custom work with sheet metal. Start with a large sheet. Drill holes in a hexagonal pattern. Then using rivets, add bumps at each corner in the hex pattern. Finally, patinate the metal lattice to your desired color, of course, a good quality paint will work too.

If you want real glass inserts there, they too could be made, by someone with glass working skills. But you need to consider what will lie behind the glass, and if you really want to be able to see through the glass buttons. That capable metal worker I mentioned above could do the job, making metal inserts in a contrasting color. A ball peen hammer for example, used to hammer the shape into a recess. More efficiently yet, a hydraulic press could do the work.

It would not be terribly cheap. But then any custom work never is.
