I grow amaryllis outdoors, inground in Houston area. It is very obvious to me, on some cultivars, when it's time to divide 1) lots of foliage but reduced blooms. 2) bulblets sticking out of ground around mother bulb.

but I grow some hippies that are anywhere from 5-10 YO that still produce only one flower. Does it mean that they haven't grown? I haven't worked up the nerve to uproot and inspect bulbs for multiplicity. Is there a way to know before digging them up?
