I would definitely leave the trim and casing white. It is interesting that the color of the front door says so much about those that dwell inside the home. Here is one blog(of the millions of articles and blog written about exactly this) that does not get too wordy or judgemental but gives you a good feel for what you might be trying to convey by painting, or not painting, you front door. Another issue entirely, if you live within an HOA, is getting approval from your ARC or ARB for that kind of change.

It is very hard to discuss color for your front door without context. Seeing the entire front of your home gives us an idea of your style and the style of your home.

I would remove the shutters from the window to the left of the front door as you face the door because the window is too large for shutters. The window to the right of the door is sized right, but the current shutters are too small. I would paint the garage, front door and shutters a greyish black. Or paint the garage the same color as shuttes and the front door a rusty/red, which will compliment the brick and really feel welcoming. Adding a large lantern by the garage and a matching hanging fixture on your porch would also be nice additions, as well as a black urn and large mat at the front door. Color can be a big change, but also how you decorate/accessorize and it will feel more like a cute coach house.
