The kitchen hood is a place where grease can collect and heat. I think you should look for a better place:)

How about if it goes high? Something like this?

I used to clean oils off my range hood right to the top of the cabinets. Imagine all that gunk getting onto and into the tv. And it's not like the cook is going to be watching it at that height.

I'd suggest going to a tablet in the kitchen, or, if you're open space, a tv across from the kitchen.

I know someone with a tv above their stove and it is probably watched once a year - at Super Bowl when there are crowds of people all over the house. It is just too small a tv to really watch, and at an odd height. It's easier to watch tv on tablets while cooking.

Not a good idea. I use my IPad that way I can move it depending on what I'm cooking and then put it away when not in use. Ironically I rarely turn it on, something about the quiet and peace of cooking

No please. Stream on an ipad or lap top. Or enjoy the peace and quiet......or find a better spot....

Isn't there a family room or some other room attached to the kitchen, so that you can put it in that room. Front and center on a kitchen hood makes the TV the center of the kitchen - IMO.

No, don't do it. TV's don't belong in the kitchen, especially on the hood! The reasons above are right on point: dirt and grease accumulates in that area, plus the TV becomes the focal point, plus it is just plain ugly and clutters up the kitchen.

I love my TV in the kitchen. Have had one for years. It is on as soon as I wake up to watch the morning news over coffee before I start work. In the evening I watch it if my husband is watching one of those shows only males like. I am one of those people who can't just sit still and watch TV, I have to also be doing something else while watching TV. So the kitchen is good for that. I can cook, or bake, or set my laptop on my island and surf and watch TV. I have shelves opposite of my working area in my kitchen and that is were the TV is. It is a smaller one and not intrusive. I don't think I would put one above the stove though.

Why do you need a tv in the kitchen? Invest in a nice tablet instead and watch stuff on there, I just find the idea of a TV in the kitchen very odd, especially above the range where it won't be visible to anyone

Lots of people have a small tvs placed somewhere in their kitchens. They enjoy watching cooking videos while they prepare the dish or keeping up with the news or just a side distraction. But having a dedicated inset for the tv on the hood is a very personal decision. You would probably never recuperate that expense and it could be a turnoff for future potential buyers. I would look for a less permanent solution unless this is your forever home and this is on your *ucket list

A tablet is just something else to cludder a counter and have to recharge every night. I don't think a TV in a kitchen is any stranger than some people putting them in the bathroom or bedroom.

I have one TV in my house and its in the family room. No TV's anywhere else, not in the bedroom and never in the bathroom or kitchen. I show houses all the time that have TV's everywhere. I don't understand it. But, to each his own.

Having said that, I have never seen one on the hood of a range. It just isn't a location that would be comfortable enough to watch as you would constantly have to have your head back to see anything.
