Are some just happier in pots?

As some of you know I have all of my plumies planted in the ground. Most of them are coming along nicely and I have several loaded up with inflos. But I have a few that literally have not grown all year. In fact they grew better in my garage in the winter under heat lamps. J105, CS3, Tobas Fire, and intense rainbow have been stagnant since I planted them like 6 months ago. They look healthy, just not growing. I don't understand. I am considering digging and potting them up. Maybe I have them planted too high. Still probably 2 1/2 months in the season here in Texas, think I should just leave am? Has anyone came across some that are better in pots?
