The floors are engineered hardwood from Provenza. It is
"Fossil Stone" from their Old World line. I literally researched floors (like everything else) for a month before choosing them. I wanted something that would hold up well to my pets, including a German Shepherd Dog, my kids and a beach lifestyle (think sand grinding in to every-thing). That meant no shiny gloss coat! No wood floor is impervious to pets but at the time I just couldn't submit to going with laminate flooring. Two years later and the floors are holding up well. There are a few claw marks especially where the dog goes charging out the back to battle the
squirrels, and a few stains here and there, but the oil-based mat finish and grain patterns help hide them and that’s what I was looking for when I chose this flooring. By the way, all the work Kristiaan did has held up great, too. Cali's loss is certainly Minnesota's gain. Here's a couple recent

Hello! Could you tell me if the Fossil
Stone color has a whitewash to it? I got a decent sized sample from my local store and it was VERY white, perhaps it was just the sample. Also does the finish show spots from walking with bare feet? I’ve read that happens with oil finished matte floors. Thank you!

My flooring, now about 2.5 yrs old, didn't at all look whitewashed but it was definitely light/blonde, which is what we wanted. We're almost always barefoot in our home and I haven't noticed any spots from bare feet but I'll add that oils from your feet will certainly at some point show traffic wear patterns. In our case, our "wear and tear" from 4 people and 3 pets is starting to show up as a light patina on the floors, which is completely tolerable, I'd say even desirable, so far. We vacuum almost daily, but only damp-mop with Provenza Wash every few months (they want a fortune for that stuff). If you are looking for that shiny hardwood floor look, or want your floors to looks the way they did the day you installed them, then in my opinion based on our lifestyle this may not be the product or color for you.

We have the same floors. VERY durable to dings and scratches, but very high maintenance to clean. Do you clean them with anything else in between the damp-mopping every few months? I can't find a good solution since I'm scared to clean them with water and a power floor scrubber based on manufacturer instructions.

No, pretty much just vacuum a lot and occasional spot damp-wipe or spot damp "dry" mop with the Provenza wa$h. Water and power-scrubber are definitely out since you don't want to get them very wet. There will probably be a point in 4-8 months where the wife and I get on our hands and knees and try something different. I'm thinking hand-$pray, scrub with the grain with a plastic scrubber of some type that has soft bristles, then wipe up with clean white cloths and repeat until the cloths are clean after the wiping, then follow up with their rejuvenating/cleaning oil product. That will be a project!
