That red one with the white outline looks surprisingly close to my Red Lantern, but my blossoms are closer to singles than yours! I don't think Red Lantern is in circulation anymore though, at least not from the big guys.

A few others that are just starting to get serious. Of these four, the top two are Optimara plants, "Indiana" and MyDelight". The bottom two are "Powwow" and "Cool Mint". In another week or two, all of the shelf dwellers w be in bloom. When that happens I intend to take a pic of the entire bunch since I never know when some new issue may rear its ugly head and I have to de-bloom everything.

I do not want to spit in your coffee - but Cool Mint - the rosette is in such disarray - I wouldn't let it bloom until it get fixed. Suckers, lopsided plant - yes - the blossom is great... But when i look at your Pow Wow - I truly enjoy it - healthy plant, well shaped, gives you tons of blossoms... my cynical AV judge's heart is happy... When I look at Cool Mint - my hands are itching to do some surgery...

You guys. Yep, that pic is one third of the original Cool Mint. I had taken the part you see down to a nub, almost no roots. Stuck it in some dirt and danged if it didn't take off. I'm going to let it convelese a bit before I put it under the knife again. Good eyes though, it is definitely lopsided. Sort of like it's one third of a plant!

The Cool Mint is the picture of perfectness compared to my odd duck, Black Pearl. I have thrown in the towel on that guy. I have propagated it until Im blue in the face. Im going to let that mess grow until it chokes itself out. In the meantime, I will enjoy the gorgeous blooms that just seem to keep coming in spite of the multi-crown mess. If any of you guys lived near here, I could make each of you a gift of three or four Black Pearl plants in various stages of growth. Each has the monster disease where it grows three or four heads.

I have a Ness Fantasy Gold that I have been nurturing for months. It looks just about like the day I got it. Veery slow. I have a Robs Argyle Socks that is picture perfect, just frozen in time, doesn't seem to grow much either. I know the smaller plants go slower but I think I might be setting a record. I have to keep my big albatross plants around just to keep me going!

Sometimes I miss the days when all I had was good ol Optimaras that would take root and grow on the kitchen cabinet if I left it there long enough!

Variegated plant grows slower than a green one, and flowering takes too much energy. If the plant was so severely crippled - it is faster to grow a nice one from a sucker than try to shape the old one.

Ness Fantasy Gold is notoriously slow. Nothing you can do. Regarding Rob's plant - it s a mini with crown variegation - so double whammy. Repot it in a fresh soil, small pot - around the solo cup size - and stick it closer to the light.
