Have you seen those mirrors where the lighting is all the way around it? It would still probably require overhead lighting as well. Is a ceiling light possible?

Hmmm, I have not seen these before. It's a great idea, but I'm not crazy about the look. But, I'll look again over the next few days and see if they grow on me. Thanks for the suggestion!

I wasn't sure I liked them either but then my father-in-law had them installed in his place. I really liked the even light it puts on your face for putting on makeup, brushing teeth, etc. It's not a warm light, for sure, so an overhead, or a hanging lamp might be better for just using the toilet and handwashing if that warmer look is more appealing.

I think you might do better to stick with two mirrors and have three sconces, one on either side and one in the middle -- that guarantees even lighting for both mirror-users rather than a side shadow. You have unusual constraints with the transom window.

At some extra expense, you can have the sconces mounted on top of the mirror -- you'll need to find somebody comfortable doing such drilling though.

Only other solution I can think of is to keep a few inches between top of mirror and window and use very slim bar lights (either all the way across or one above each sink):

I'd see if the window frame around the window could be removed (changing to what's called "drywall returns") to give you a little more room to work with, as it looks like things could end up a little low otherwise.

Thanks everyone for the advice and recommendations! I think I have finally decided on a large mirror with a double sconce in the middle and a single on each side. Question: Would the mirror installer be the person who makes the hole for the wiring to come through? The single sconces would be mounted directly on the wall, but the double would have to be mounted on the mirror itself.
