Thank you Fred! We need them here. Our house in Houston is in a good spot and this thing is making us nervous, so, I can't imagine everyone who has previously flooded. They are predicting catastrophic rains here

Not supposed to make landfall til Friday night or early Saturday. They think it will be south west of Houston, but we'll be on the dirty side. Rain will start here in Spring around noon Friday; 5 days of rain projected with 16" at my house.

I'm ok...5" of rain this morning and more coming down now. House and greenhouse are ok. This is a rain event, not a wind event here, so I think we can survive the storm. They are projecting 5 days of rain as Harvey just sits over south TX.

I emailed him and got no response. Here are rainfall totals in last 24 hours. He's in an area that has received 15"+ (south). My area's had 10"+ (north).

They're showing water rescues and plucking people from the rooftops in the general area where Ray lives. I'm hoping that he's OK .

My heart goes out to you all as we sit and watch this devastating disaster unfold before our very eyes. I can't imagine the suffering some of you must be enduring. And, I think of all the animals that won't get saved.. wild and domestic. The pictures are heartrending...

Kristi, I'm glad you're safe for now at least and I do worry about Ray too. The last I had heard from him is that he was scheduled to have his knee done around the 20th of August. Hopefully they evacuated as he has a large family and hopefully some of them are out of the flood area but what will they find when they return!!

There are many more of you in Texas on this forum and I hope that you are all safe and remain safe until this catastrophe from the heavens ends.

My last email from Ray said that his surgery has been postponed until about 5 September.

Fred, The city of Boston has been mentioned over and over in our newscast as they are providing emergency supplies at a record pace. I know you're in Cambridge, but I still think of that as Boston. I want to thank the city of Boston for their kindness and compassion towards the storm victims to the south.

26" of rain here in 48 hours. At least I still have electricity, but who knows for how long as the winds pick up. Probably 10" more between today and tomorrow.

My heart is so heavy for your folks in TX and my continuous prayers are with you all.

Thanks Fred. Rain is slowing down. Winds have picked up a bit. Rivers and creeks haven't crested yet, and that will cause more issues. It will be days before the water recedes and then people can get home and evaluate damage. They say that this is going to be the largest home reconstruction effort that's ever been conducted in the US.

Jody, Hope you are safe in your part of Florida, we'll be thinking of you! We have family in Miami and they evacuated early this morning heading north of course, sure hope there is something left when they return.

Thanks Donna, still waiting to see where this massive storm will set down to decide where to go. Have hurricane shutteres up but we are being warned about storm surges. Have protected hippies and others as best we can. Have been getting ready for days.

Please be careful with this beast of a storm. OMG just as the poor folks in TX are trying to get back on their feet, this happens. To all the folks on this list that are in harm's way, I'm praying extra hard for your safety.

Thanks so much Fred. The problem is we don'the know where it's going to hit but they keep expanding the evacuation area more and more.... Question is do you stay or attempt to leave, run out of gas in stop and go traffic and wind up experiencing this beast in your vehicle. Not great choices:(
