Hello we are Charleston, SC and have two Emperor 1 maples on either side of our front porch. Planted fall 2016. They are about 5 feet tall each. They each get morning sun and afternoon shade. But one gets a little more sun than the other. They face east Its leaves are getting burnt and coming off. (we also have 4 boston ferns hanging on our porch and the ones near this tree also get a little burnt out and I have to rotate them). Do you think it would be a great idea to cover that tree with a white sheet to reflect the sun during the super sunny summer months (like June/July/August)? Then the rest of the months keep it uncovered?
If so could i just do this for a few years until it gets more established.
