Flowers fall off after watering

I used to be a member of TheOrchidSource but it looks like the site is no longer in operation.
Does anyone know why orchids drop their flowers right after watering? I've noticed this on all my phals. I use the immersion method of watering, and do so about every 2-3 weeks depending on the weather. Any orchid that has flowers on it tends to drop every last one about 2-5 days after watering. I've tried just spraying the aerial roots instead of immersing the entire pot but that often leads to some flower loss as well, though not all of them fall all of the time. I'm perturbed as to why this happens since orchids get rained on in their natural habitat all the time, flowering or not, so why would they still drop their flowers even with just spraying? Any ideas?
