There are 4 or 5 different varieties that have 'pepper' as part of their name but none that are just called "Pepper". And the name only refers to the shape, not the flavor so yes, they would taste like a regular tomato not a pepper.

So do you know the actual name of the variety? They look like many of the various paste type tomatoes available.

Lots of discussions here and on the Harvest forum about making sauce and the many different varieties used to do it. Also why using just paste types may not give you the best tasting sauce. Sure it is thicker initially because the paste types have less water in them. But the flavor of most paste types isn't all that great compared to other types and there are easy ways to reduce the water amount in other types that taste much better. Might want to consider including some other types in the future.
