Kitchen Design Help

I recently bought a home and really dislike the kitchen. I feel like the colors are too bold and are limited due to the color of the granite countertops. anyone have any advice for what color floors and/or stain colors for the cabinets might work with this kitchen?

The cabinets are lovely, so I would not change them. I think the backsplash, flooring and countertops are what need to change.

I totally agree with you. It is just finding the right color pattern to use

HI -- Go to some tile show rooms and see what is popular right now . The cabinets are beautiful and fine the way they are . The back splash and the floor tiles are what is dated . Look for some of the concrete patterned tiles that are so beautiful right now and are not going out of style anytime soon. Then have textured but plain colored subway tiles .... just for an idea . If you do a plain tile then tile the whole back splash and up and around the window for a more up dated application . The island looks like it is a little too far from the other counter --42 inches apart is standard and 48 inches is very good too.

My cabinets are a similar tone, but much older style. I picked a light quartz with some warm tones and a cream subway tile backsplash. I already had hardwood floors. I also added a farm sink if that is your style. Pics are in my "my pics" idea book - though it is a more vintage kitchen.

agree,,,cabinets are fine. the flooring and backsplash are the main issues,,,countertop is a close second. If you can live w/the granite, then find a flooring you like. do some painting, and then come back w/updated pics for the splash.

you will be stuck in the tan/gold/beige/cream tones if keeping the granite. Forget the floor. you have to change that,,,hands down.

If changing the granite, go find something you like, and then pic a flooring to go with it. have everything installed, then choose a splash. Your kitchen can be beautiful with those changes! promise.

The cabinets are lovely. I would do the floor in a grayish tan luxury vinyl planks. it's a gorgeous look and if you get the right stuff it's 100% waterproof. The backsplash could be changed to punched tin which you can get with a more modern pattern. There is even a plastic tin look tile, sold in sheets, which will fool anybody into thinking it's real. Change the counter top to a medium to light grey quartz, and change the island counter top to something contrasting. Concrete, a different pattern in quartz, or butcher block would be lovely. Over the window I would put some kind of pattern Roman shades. Do you have enough light? I think a couple of pendants over the island would be great, and add under cabinet lighting. I think I would also like more light as you just have cans. Change your range hood to something larger and colored. Another thing you can do is paint the island a completely different color, depending on what you like. I think I would try dark blue (not navy), teal, or maybe face it in Stainless Steel.
