Are you interested in nameless hostas or only named varieties? I may have some seeds from my big blue monster. This one of the children. The mother plant often makes seeds.

I'm really too impatient for seeds. Last year, I did try Winter sowing a few Siberian iris, hardy hibiscus, and Lupine. None really worked for me. So I think my days of seed starting are history!

I already cut the scapes off of my mature hostas, but some of my new/recent additions still have theirs. However, I've never collected hosta seeds before. When should it be done? I see green seed pods but don't know if/when they are "ready." Will send you what I have if I can collect them at the right time. Don't need any seeds in exchange...no time or space for seedling care anymore.

Just wait until the seed pods turn beige like the picture below and cut them off. I heard when they turn yellow just put a 'knee high' over them till they crack. They are very light like paper and easily blown away.

Hi. Ken, I am still trying to recover from my Hostas that didn't come back this year. Too expensive for me to go out and buy plants. Besides I love planting seeds. And yes I know they don't come true to the mother plant but I may get something spectacular from a seedling. It's a lot of fun seeing what comes out. And thanks.

It really isn't a good idea to put your email addy on a public site like this. There are bots the scour these things and you may end up with tons of spams or other nasty stuff.

To enable other people here to message you WITHOUT giving your e-mail address, you goto your profile page and select advanced options. Toward the bottom there will be a box to check to allow messages.

Any messages will go thru Houzz. Then you can decide to tell that individual your actual email address.
