Moss Spreading/ Growth Rate

Hi there,

Does moss spread until it hits an obstacle or does in only grow in the area it is planted? I made a "slurry" out of some moss form outside but I didn't have enough to cover my entire pot that I want it to be in. Will it spread edge to edge overtime?
