I would get some area rugs to give it a bit of a break .Once your furniture is in it will not be nearly as visible.

Santos Mahogany has moderate photo-sensitivity. It's colour will moderate itself a little bit over time. Because of this, I would recommend that you leave the area rugs out of the equation for the first 6-12 months of it's life. This gives your floor the best possible chance to turn to darker.

Sadly, someone should have pointed out the HIGH variation this particular wood has. In fact, Santos Mahogany is KNOWN for it's variation from plank to plank. It is it's "calling card" so to speak. Brazilian Teak would have been a better option.

But what's done is done. If it hasn't been installed, you might be able to arrange the planks by colour and then tell the installers where you want the "good" colours (like main living areas) and where you want the "seconds" installed (in bedrooms, etc).

Staining Santos Mahogany is possible - but it takes a fair amount of knowledge of exotics to get it right.

That sounds good. I did tell the sales person I did not want an orange or too red floor and the sample was a beautiful brown.
