I'm sure it depends on your conditions, but let's put it this way - I've had mine at lest 8 or 9 years and this year, I actually had a couple of peduncles for the first time, but they dropped even before hinting to bud up. I'm sure the Floridians have no trouble getting them to bloom, but up here, for me - nada!

I purchased my onychoides back in 2008/2009 I think and 2 or 3 years later it bloomed! But it hasn't bloomed since them...6 years now Lol...I definitely would say this is a very temperamental bloomer **sigh**

I agree! Mine (~3 years old) put out buds this year, but they all blasted at, what I assume was the halfway point of development.

It seems to grow well, though! Although, there are times when it just wants to sit and do nothing, like a sulking child.

Couldn't agree more Aurora!! Wish I knew why it is such a difficult hoya to bloom. It's been in the same location since I got it. Maybe it needs a little bit of direct sun ( it will have to be morning sun) since we've been in the mid to upper 90's here for months!
