Jodie, we picked up this chair at an estate sale today. Do you think we could use it in the space? We're thinking recovering and possibly painting? Thoughts?

Love them. Great lines and texture. What does the back of the chair look like. Is that white piping on gray? Photo of the chairs in space?

Your "main" living room has a lot of big furniture which makes the room feel very crowded. Add to that the big tv which looms over everything at an uncomfortable viewing height. Do you have a secondary living area where you could move the tv and sound system? As we see in many homes these days, the room seems more like a theater than a place for conversation and visiting with friends and/or family.

Jodie, the back of the chair is fabric. It's a light blue faux suede, we think.

If you have reupholstered I would not do the tufting. Some Ideas if you decide to change the finish and fabric. The side Cane-Back chair adds a nice texture to your space. I like Linen fabric as it is neutral and smart looking .

Awesome idea, Jodie. Would you still use this chair in the space if we're going to eventually get the two matching chairs?

Could you get away with one chair or could it go in the corner where plant is and get a smaller coffee table? Would be for conversation seating only and obviously not for TV viewing. I honestly can see not passing up on this fantastic chair.

Jodie, when we hang the old clock above the painted chest would you center and take the light off the chest? Or would you offset it and leave the lamp?

Been busy working on design project, however thinking of what will work and look balanced. In progress of coming up with ideas. Remember when you have the chest painted it needs to have depth and appear as a piece of art itself, make sure and get someone that knows what they are doing.

Are you getting the chest painted? I would move lamp to the left of chest and position side by side and if you need to put decorative books underneath lamp to bring height up and 3d sculpture above for balance. I want to make this clock work in this space for you but to look as of it belongs there aesthetically. Not sure if this scale is right if you like this look below would add interest to the wall with clock and chest. Will try and give you a visual.

Yes ma'am, the plan is to get it painted. So we should move the lamp to the other side and hang the clock closer to the wall? How high should I hang the clock over the chest? And how many books would you put under the lamp? I love the cow head.

I like it, measure from the top of the clock to ceiling. What I like about the black and white it adds texture.

Measure with the clock sitting on the table or with it off the table an inch or two?

Jodie, not at home currently but I know the ceiling is 8' and the clock is 15"W x 31"H. Does that help or do I need to measure it exactly?

Jodie, the clock would be 34 inches from the ceiling if we hung it 2 inches above the chest. Is this where you're thinking the lamp should go?

I think you need something as wide as the chest to balance above the clock and lamp. I do like the silver antler but still looking and have not found that perfect decor item yet. The black and white cow is the perfect texture look of colors but too small.

This looks great. Yes, it does. My grandparents had it in their house. As a kid I can remember my grandfather winding it each night. It no longer works, but it's a great memory.
